When I said yes to becoming Regional Commissioner, I knew the game. I played soccer in college, and I understand what happens on the field. What I didn’t know was everything that happens off of it. Between raising three kids and working a full-time, high-stress job, the administrative side of running a region felt like I had taken on more than I could handle.
Attending the Expo in Chattanooga changed that. I came home with practical answers, but more than that, I came home with people in my corner. The relationships I built with other commissioners, volunteers, and national staff are invaluable. I now have a network of people who have faced the same challenges and are willing to pick up the phone any time I call.
Expo took what seemed overwhelming to me and made it feasible. It also made me excited to get home and back to work. I’m still a work in progress, but I left knowing I have the support I need.
Whether you’re brand new or have been volunteering for years, I encourage you to go. You’ll leave with more than you came for.
Meredith Holtz
Regional Commissioner, Region 279
